FINDING NEMO KIDS
Audition FAQ

WHAT IS THE SHOW? Disney Pixar’s Finding Nemo Kids

WHEN IS IT? Performances are Wed April 14th during school, & Thurs. & Fri. April 15th and 16th at 7pm.

HOW DO I TRY OUT? You need to do the following:

  1. Sign up for WORKSHOP *AND* AUDITION by completing an audition google form HERE

  2. Attend the workshop on Wednesday Dec 2nd 3:30-5:00pm and PARENTS attend a brief meeting following the workshop.

  3. Attend ONE audition date of either MONDAY Dec 7th or TUESDAY Dec 8th

  4. Be prepared to attend “call backs” on Thursday Dec 10th (see below for more information on call backs)

What will we do at the workshop Wednesday Dec. 2nd? We will teach you part of a song and dance, the scripts for auditions. We will

explain how auditions work, expectations for being a part of the show and rehearsal schedules.

How big of a time commitment is this show? Ensemble members will start with 1 rehearsal a week and move to 2 as we get closer to the

performances. Leads will start with 2 rehearsals a week and move to 3. Rehearsals run from 3:30-5PM usually on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or

Thursdays. Rehearsal end times move to 5:30, then 6PM as the show date nears. The last week and a half are Tech/Dress rehearsals. These

very important rehearsals are 100% MANDATORY ATTENDANCE FOR EVERYONE UNTIL 6PM .

Does it cost money to participate? There will be a fee of $45** (payable to Kutz Home and School) collected from all participants once rehearsals begin. This will help to cover the cost of the musical rights, each Cast Member's script, a production t-shirt for each Cast Member, and prop, set, and costume incidentals. The $45 fee does not include the cost for costumes, hair/makeup or footwear.  If any of these expenses are a financial burden please let us, or Mrs Adelberger know, and we will make sure the cost does not prevent any student from participating!

Which speaking part should I practice in the script pages? All of them! Be prepared to take turns doing different parts. You might read lines for

2 or 3 characters during your audition.

Do I have to memorize the lines? Nope! Being familiar with them helps but you don’t need to memorize. We will have extra copies on hand.

We’re looking for you to show us how expressive you can be!

Will I have to sing by myself? Only if you are interested in a featured role or singing solo. If you are only interested in group singing in the

production you will only have to sing in a group in the audition.

Can I try out for a specific part? You are welcome to share what part you are most interested in, but we will make the cast list based on what is

best for the show as a whole.

Do I have to have a speaking part/singing part? If you are not interested in auditioning for a featured role, you may be part of the

ensemble. The ensemble sings, dances, helps tell the story, and adds extra action to several scenes in the show. It’s an important part of any

musical!

Will anyone who auditions be cut from the cast? No! Everyone who auditions, pays the registration fee and signs the show contract (a

promise to show up at all scheduled rehearsals, learn your parts and do your best) is in!

What is a call back? Casting decisions are hard and sometimes we need to see some actors again to help us make final casting decisions. Not

being called back does NOT mean you don’t have a part. Call backs will be after school on THURSDAY December 10th from 3:30-6PM. If you

need to attend call backs we will contact your parents by Wednesday evening.

Who is picking the cast? The musical committee is Courtney Goche, & Katie Piperno. We’re both parents of Kutz students. As in the past, we

will also invite some Kutz teachers to help us during auditions. Because some of our own kids are auditioning, we will each step out for our

own child’s audition and won’t give feedback on any casting decisions for our own child.

What if I disagree with casting choices/don’t like my part? Not getting the part you dreamed of is very disappointing, but it’s part of the

experience of being in theater. All casting decisions are final. Casting a show is a big, complicated jigsaw puzzle. We promise to do our very

best to be fair and to put together a show we can all be excited for and proud of!

When will we find out our parts? The cast list will be announced on Friday Dec. 11th via email. Rehearsals will start the following week.

Wait! I have more questions! Please feel free to reach out to the musical committee. You can reach us at Kutzmusical@gmail.com
